What is 1290?

Australian citizenship applications usually use a specific form for the pathway involved, such as citizenship by conferral or by descent. Form 1290 covers other situations that fall outside those standard forms, gathering the identity, background and eligibility details the Department of Home Affairs needs to assess a less common citizenship request.

Because it covers a range of circumstances, the form is long and asks for detailed personal, residence and identity information, along with supporting documents relevant to the particular citizenship situation.
