What is T2033?
T2033, Direct Transfer, is used by an individual, the transferor, and the transferee to move property directly from a registered retirement savings plan or a registered retirement income fund to another RRSP or RRIF, or to purchase an eligible annuity. A direct transfer keeps the amount tax-deferred, so no withholding tax applies and the amount is not added to the individual's income.

Is a direct transfer taxable?
No. A direct transfer completed on the T2033 keeps the amount tax-deferred, so there is no withholding tax and the amount is not added to your income. It is not the same as withdrawing and redepositing the funds yourself.
Who completes the T2033?
The individual annuitant, the transferring institution, and the receiving institution each complete their section. The financial institutions keep the form and handle the reporting to the CRA.
