What is V55/MV?
Mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs sit in their own registration category. Gov.uk says to use the V55/MV to register a new or used mobility vehicle that has never been registered before, which keeps these vehicles off the general V55/4 and V55/5 route.

How to fill out V55/MV
- Read leaflet INF304 first to confirm your mobility vehicle actually has to be registered.
- Complete the vehicle details on the V55/MV, including make, model and serial or chassis number.
- Fill in the keeper details and the tax class, which for most mobility vehicles is the exempt disabled class.
- Enclose the evidence INF304 asks for, such as proof of purchase and evidence of the vehicle's specification.
- Send the form and supporting documents to DVLA, Swansea, at the address printed on the form.

Frequently asked questions
Do all mobility scooters need registering?
No. Only some classes have to be registered, and INF304 published with the form sets out which. Lower powered pavement scooters are generally outside the requirement.
Is there vehicle tax to pay?
Registrable mobility vehicles normally fall into a nil rate tax class, but the vehicle still has to be taxed each year even when nothing is payable. Check the current position on gov.uk.
What happens after DVLA registers it?
