What is 1006?
A Bridging visa B is for people who already hold a Bridging visa A or B and need to travel outside Australia and return during the processing of a substantive visa application. Unlike a Bridging visa A, which does not permit travel, a Bridging visa B is granted with a set travel period during which you may depart and re-enter without losing your lawful status.
Form 1006 asks for your details, your current bridging visa, the substantive application you are bridging, and the reason and dates for the travel you are planning. The grant specifies a travel validity period, and you must return before it ends. If you remain overseas past that period, the bridging visa can cease and your lawful status in Australia may be affected.

What happens if I return after the travel period ends?
If you are outside Australia when the travel validity period ends, the Bridging visa B ceases. You may then need a different visa to return, so plan travel to finish comfortably inside the period granted.
