IMM 5409: Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union

What is IMM 5409?

The Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union, IMM 5409, is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Two partners use it to declare under oath that they have lived together in a conjugal relationship for at least one continuous year, which is how IRCC defines a common-law partnership. It is commonly used to support spousal or partner sponsorship and other applications where the relationship must be established.
