What is T5?
The T5 slip, Statement of Investment Income, reports investment income a payer paid or credited during the year, including interest from bank accounts and instruments, eligible and other than eligible dividends from Canadian corporations, and some foreign income. The payer, such as a bank or corporation, prepares the slip, files the slip information with the CRA and gives a copy to the recipient, who reports the amounts on their income tax and benefit return.

How to fill out T5

- Report the interest, dividends and any foreign income in the correct boxes, with the required gross-up and tax amounts for dividends.
