V62: Application for a vehicle registration certificate (V5C)

What is V62?
The V5C records who the registered keeper of a vehicle is and the vehicle's details. V62 is the paper route to getting one issued: gov.uk points you to it when you need to change something in the log book, or when you are not yet recorded as the vehicle's keeper, for example after buying a vehicle whose V5C never arrived.
Gov.uk describes the form as print only. It has to be filled in, signed and posted to DVLA with any fee that applies, and cannot be submitted electronically. If you only need a straight replacement with no changes, there is an online duplicate log book service that is quicker. You can also apply to tax the vehicle at the same time as sending the V62.

How to fill out V62
- Enter the registration number, make and VIN or chassis number of the vehicle.
- Complete your name and address as the person applying to be the registered keeper.
- Give the details of how and when you acquired the vehicle, including the previous keeper where you know it.
- Enclose the fee if one is due, and the new keeper supplement (V5C/2) if the seller gave you one.
- Sign the declaration and post the form to DVLA, Swansea, at the address printed on the form.
